Bengaluru: North City Corporation to hold phone-in programme for garbage-related complaints
The North City Corporation in Bengaluru is launching a weekly phone-in program to address resident complaints regarding solid waste management. The initiative aims to improve garbage collection efficiency through better route planning and coordination.
Why it matters
Improving waste management is a critical urban governance issue that directly impacts public health and city cleanliness.
With complaints over garbage collection continuing, the North City Corporation will hold a special phone-in programme every Tuesday from 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. to hear residents’ grievances related to solid waste management alone.
Residents can complain about the timing of waste collection vehicles, pourakarmika services, waste collection arrangements in their areas, and problems with waste disposal. The phone-in programme will be led by the joint commissioners.
The Corporation has also prepared micro-plans for all seven divisions to improve door-to-door waste collection and street cleaning. The microplan is aimed at coordinating the routes of auto-tippers and pourakarmikas and identify and manage bulk waste generators, Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar said.
