Tension prevailed in Basavanagudi after a clash broke out between two groups on K.R. Road during an Id Milad procession on Wednesday. The incident occurred in front of the office of Hindutva activist Puneeth Kerehalli, triggering a protest by his associates, who condemned the alleged assault and demanded action against those responsible.

The trouble began when a group taking part in the procession allegedly raised slogans. An argument over the slogans reportedly escalated into a heated confrontation between two groups, which later turned violent.
A youth identified as Murali was allegedly assaulted during the clash and sustained serious injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, Puneeth Kerehalli and his supporters staged a protest in front of his office, condemning the alleged assault.
