The dismantling of this network addresses the proliferation of illegal firearms and enhances public safety in urban centers.
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a man allegedly involved in manufacturing and supplying handmade firearms in Bengaluru, based on leads obtained during the investigation of an earlier arms trafficking case.
The accused, identified as Jenzir alias Paapad, was arrested in Singhana town of Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly operating an illegal firearm manufacturing unit from his house since 2012.
According to the police, Jenzir was allegedly manufacturing handmade pistols and ammunition and supplying them to buyers in Bengaluru and other parts of the country. He allegedly sold country-made weapons for ₹20,000 to local buyers and for ₹50,000 to buyers in other States.
A breakthrough came during the investigation of an Arms Act case registered on February 25. In this case, CCB officials had arrested Imran and two others, seizing four .32 calibre pistols, 52 live cartridges, revolver components and three mobile phones in May this year.
