A 10-year-old girl was killed after a speeding car knocked her down while she was walking to school with her aunt near Kudur in Nelamangala taluk on Thursday morning.
The victim, identified as Likitha, a class 4 student at a government school, died on the spot after being hit by a speeding car on National Highway 75 near Kudur between 8 a.m. and 8.15 a.m., the police said.
A probe revealed that Likitha’s mother had prepared breakfast and left for work. The girl was walking to school with her aunt when the car, travelling from Nelamangala towards Kunigal, hit her allegedly due to the driver’s rash and negligent driving. Her aunt narrowly escaped without serious injuries.
