Bengal government to provide ₹1.8 lakh aid for fully damaged houses in flood-hit Malda

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday (October 8, 2026) said his government will provide ₹1.8 lakh aid for fully damaged homes and ₹90,000 for partially affected houses in flood-hit Malda district.
Speaking at a flood-relief distribution programme at Raghunathpur, Mr. Adhikari also said that IIT-Kanpur has been tasked with preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for a permanent flood solution in Malda.
“Proposals have been sent to the Centre seeking ₹3,300 crore projects for river erosion control in Malda and Murshidabad. Projects worth ₹500 crore have been cleared,” he said.
