Belagavi-based KLS GIT signs MoU with Purosil on sustainable polymer materials based on ‘Biocongruent Chemistry’
KLS Gogte Institute of Technology has partnered with Purosil Performance Hose LLP to research sustainable polymer materials using 'Biocongruent Chemistry'. The collaboration aims to integrate bio-derived components into industrial manufacturing to improve environmental sustainability.
Why it matters
This partnership represents a significant step in bridging academic research with industrial application to develop eco-friendly manufacturing materials.
Belagavi-based KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (KLS GIT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Purosil Performance Hose LLP, to strengthen their collaboration in sustainable polymer materials based on the emerging concept of “Biocongruent Chemistry”.
Purosil is an industrial manufacturing organisation with operations in India located at Aequs SEZ, Hattargi Village, in Belagavi district.
The collaboration brings together academic research and industrial capabilities to explore polymer systems that retain the required performance and service life while exhibiting improved interaction with natural transformation processes at the end of their useful life.
The initiative forms part of an international research effort involving MCPU Polymer Engineering, LLC, U.S.; KLS GIT, India; Purosil; the National Institute for Materials Advancement, U.S.; and LCA Design, Canada. The underlying research has examined the incorporation of soy- and lignin-based building blocks and other bio-derived components into established polymer formulations.
