Beehiiv creators are buzzing about a new price increase

The creator platform Beehiiv is raising its subscription prices, prompting frustration among some users who feel the value proposition has not kept pace with the costs. While some creators acknowledge the platform's utility, others are questioning its profitability compared to competitors like Substack.
Why it matters
This reflects the ongoing tension in the creator economy between platform monetization strategies and the financial sustainability of independent publishers.
Beehiiv, a creator platform that has risen in popularity as an alternative to Substack, is increasing its prices — and many users aren’t happy. In a post explaining the increase, Beehiiv co-founder and CEO Tyler Denk says it will allow the company to “continue investing in our core platform experience.”
As part of the change, Beehiiv is changing the name of its mid-range Scale plan to Lite, which has gone up by at least $10 per month depending on subscriber count. For someone with up to 10,000 subscribers, for example, Beehiiv will charge $139 / month instead of $109. Meanwhile, the Pro plan (formerly Max) will cost $239 / month for up to 10,000 subscribers, a jump from the previous $219 /month price. Creators with less than 2,500 subscribers can continue using Beehiiv for free.
