Why it matters
The visit highlights the intersection of political figures with religious and cultural heritage sites in India.
N.A. Haris, Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Chairman and Shantinagar MLA, visited the dargah of Hazrat Khaja Bandanawaz in Kalaburagi and offered prayers recently.
Mr. Haris met the dargah’s Sajjada Nashin, Hazrat Hafiz Syed Mohammed Ali Al-Hussaini, and offered Gul-e-Aqeedat at Gumbad-e-Mubarak before offering dua.
The Sajjada Nashin presented tabarrukat to Mr. Haris. Syed Mustafa Al-Hussaini and MLC Bilkees Bano were also presented with tabarrukat.
Later, the Sajjada Nashin showed Mr. Haris various parts of the dargah and explained its historic architecture, design and significance.
Mr. Haris also visited the Syed Muhammad Gesu Daraz Research Academy, where the complete collection of the Shahbaz Book, published between 1960 and 2026, was inaugurated. The collection comprises research papers presented at seminars held every year during the Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Khaja Bandanawaz. These papers are subsequently published in book form.
