BCCI invites applications for Agarkar’s replacement in the selection panel

The BCCI has officially invited applications to fill the vacant position on the men's senior selection committee following the expiration of Ajit Agarkar's contract. The board has set specific eligibility criteria, including minimum playing experience and retirement timelines.
Why it matters
The selection committee plays a critical role in shaping the future of the Indian national cricket team, making this appointment a high-profile administrative decision.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has formally begun the process to find Ajit Agarkar’s successor on the men’s senior selection committee, inviting applications for one vacancy on Tuesday, two days after the former India pacer’s contract expired.
The appointment will assume significance with the new selector expected to join a four-member panel that is already functioning without Agarkar. Pragyan Ojha, who has the most Test appearances among the remaining members, has been asked to chair the committee in the interim.
The BCCI, in its media advisory, said the new member would be responsible for selecting the senior men’s team across formats, identifying talent and developing bench strength.
