Bay trough may bring rain, relief from heat in Telangana
Meteorologists expect a trough in the Bay of Bengal to bring light rain and relief from high temperatures in Telangana. The region has faced a dry October and a significant rainfall deficit during the recent monsoon season.
Why it matters
Climate variability and rainfall deficits directly impact agricultural output and water security in the Telangana region.
Relief from the prevailing hot conditions in the capital region and its environs is in sight. A trough formation in the Bay of Bengal is likely to bring in some light rain and also lower the temperatures by a few notches for the next few days, according to meteorologists at the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) here on Tuesday.
Senior weather consultant Y.V. Rama Rao said easterly winds and a trough moving towards Tamil Nadu are likely to trigger rainfall activity across Telangana for the next four days. “This could bring temperatures back to normal levels. Recent temperatures have been 2-3 degrees Celsius above normal across both Hyderabad and the districts due to clear skies, dry weather and the influence of El Nino conditions,” he said.
