The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has urged Ugandans across the political spectrum to embrace tolerance and peace as the country prepares to celebrate its 64th Independence Day anniversary on Friday, October 9.
Speaking to journalists ahead of the national commemoration scheduled to take place at State House Entebbe, ONC National Coordinator Ms Hadijah Namyalo emphasized that political differences should not divide citizens during a historic milestone. The national celebrations will be held under the theme “ Embracing Our Sovereignty with Peace and Visionary Leadership, ” according to the Minister for the Presidency, Ms Milly Babalanda.
Ms Namyalo appealed to political actors to set aside rivalries and protect the country's development gains, including newly discovered oil resources, while reflecting on the nation's past struggles.
