Banana plantation damaged in Thuraiyur
Heavy rains and gusty winds caused significant damage to banana plantations in the Thiruvaiyaru region of Tamil Nadu. Cultivators are reporting losses of approximately ₹50 lakh and are seeking government compensation.

Banana plantations at some of the hamlets in Thiruvaiyaru region were damaged by rain and heavy winds on Sunday.
According to official sources, Sathanur, Vadugakudi, Aachanur, Valappakudi, and surround hamlets near Thiruvaiyaru experienced heavy rain with gusty wind on Sunday evening. Around 40,000 banana trees raised on about 30 acres across the above mentioned hamlets were damaged in the gusty winds resulting in heavy loss to the cultivators who have raised these plantations by spending ₹1 lakh an acre.
