Bajpe Police Inspector caught accepting bribe

Lokayukta officials on Monday caught Balakrishna, the Inspector of Bajpe Police Station, while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 from a complainant.

A Lokayukta release said Balakrishna had demanded a bribe of ₹25,000 to release money seized from the accused in a cheating case registered at the station.

He had already received ₹15,000 of the amount. He subsequently demanded an additional ₹5,000, leading to the registration of a case at the Mangaluru Lokayukta Police Station.

The Inspector was caught and taken into custody while accepting the balance bribe amount. Further investigation is underway, the release said.
