A baby girl was received in the Ammathottil electronic cradle of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare here on Tuesday.
The girl is the 1000th infant to be received in the Ammathottil since it was founded on November 14, 2002.
The five-day-old girl, weighing 2.57 kg, was received in the cradle at 3.35 a.m. on Tuesday morning. She was named Sahasra, council general secretary G.L. Arun Gopi said.
