Why it matters
The match highlights the growing prominence of women's cricket in India and the cultural intersection between sports and popular media.
India wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia found a unique way to motivate off-spinner Vaishnavi Sharma during the third women's ODI against Zimbabwe in Vadodara on Wednesday, borrowing a famous dialogue from the Hindi film Gangs of Wasseypur 2.As Vaishnavi troubled the Zimbabwe batters, Yastika was heard saying from behind the stumps: "Vaishu (Vaishnavi) sabka badla lena hai. Baap ka, dada ka, bhai ka,"The line is a reference to a famous dialogue delivered by Nawazuddin Siddiqui's character Faizal in Gangs of Wasseypur 2: "Baap ka, dada ka, bhai ka, sabka badla lega re tera Faizal." In the film, Faizal says it to signal that he will avenge the murders of his father, grandfather and brother by his family's rivals.Vaishnavi responded with a five-wicket haul as India bowled Zimbabwe out for 131 in the third ODI.
