Awareness on eye donation crucial, says organ donation panel

All India Body Organ Donation State general secretary Shingam Shivaji said eye donation awareness was the need of the hour to help thousands of visually challenged persons in the State.

North Andhra Registered Medical Practitioners Association’s zonal president Jangam Joshi and Vizianagaram district president Gedda Chiranjeevi organised an awareness programme in a private eye hospital in Vizianagaram on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shivaji said that corneas collected within five hours of death can be transplanted to needy people to restore vision.
