The first day of the book festival saw the announcement of the results of the Book Brahma Swantantryotsava Novel Award, 2026.
Kannada author Mahesh Araballi’s novel Neerava won the first prize, which carries a cash prize of ₹1 lakh and a plaque. Dharwad-based publishing house Manohara Granthamala will publish the winning novel.
