Why it matters
It highlights the commercial performance and box office trends of major Indian cinema releases, which are significant drivers of the regional entertainment economy.
'Awarapan 2' is maintaining a strong run at the box office despite a decline in its Day 6 earnings. The Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani-starrer collected Rs. 6.75 crore net in India on Day 6, registering a 30.8% drop from the previous day's Rs 9.75 crore. The film has nevertheless crossed the Rs. 100 crore India net milestone and has now entered the next phase of its theatrical run. On the worldwide front, the film's gross collection, already at Rs. 153.59 crore, puts the Rs. 155-160 crore range well within reach by day's end. Looking ahead, the bigger target now becomes the second weekend, where the film's ability to hold shows and pull in fresh audiences will determine whether it can make a serious push toward the Rs.
