Autumn chill to arrive this week as temperatures set to drop

The UK is bracing for a significant drop in temperatures this week, ending a period of unseasonably warm autumn weather. Rain and potential thunderstorms are expected as a weather front moves south.

By Wednesday, afternoon highs are expected to range from 11C (52F) in northern Scotland to 17C (63C) in southern England.
It will mark a significant change from the summer-like warmth that has brought temperatures of up to 28C over the last week.
If the thermometer fails to reach 20C anywhere in the UK, it will be the first time that has happened since 11 June.
In south Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia and southern England, early mist and fog could linger for a while in a few locations on Sunday.
However, once this clears sunny spells are expected.
