Autorickshaw fares hiked in Mangaluru from September 1
The Regional Transport Authority in Mangaluru has approved a hike in autorickshaw fares effective from September 1. The increase, which raises the minimum fare to ₹40, is attributed to rising fuel and maintenance costs.

Autorickshaw fares will go up in Mangaluru from Tuesday.
The Regional Transport Authority (RTA), headed by Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan, has approved a minimum hike in autorickshaw fares in the city from Tuesday. The fare for the initial 1.5 km will increase from ₹35 to ₹40. For every subsequent kilometre, the fare has been fixed at ₹20, up from the prevailing ₹15. The fare applies to a maximum of three passengers.
In the order passed on Friday, Mr. Darshan said autorickshaw rates were revised considering the rising costs of fuel, CNG, and spare parts, as well as the interests of commuters. There will be no waiting charge for the first 10 minutes, and ₹5 for every subsequent 15 minutes. Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., drivers are allowed to collect 1.5 times the normal fare.
