Auto, taxi unions in Delhi seek fare hike amid rising CNG prices
Auto and taxi unions in Delhi held a protest demanding a fare hike to offset the rising costs of CNG fuel. Union representatives have been promised a response from transport officials within 25 days, or they threaten to escalate their agitation.

Several auto and taxi drivers’ unions held a protest outside the office of Delhi Transport Commissioner Niharika Rai on Rajpur Road on Thursday, demanding fare hikes amid rising CNG prices.
Five representatives were later allowed to meet officials amid police presence. “We told them that fares for taxis have not been increased for the past 15 years and urged them to revise the fare. We were told that a notification would be issued within 20 to 25 days,” said Anuj Kumar Rathore, vice president, Chaalak Shakti Union.
He added that if fare revision is not announced within 25 days, they will launch a wider agitation.
