Auto driver killed as car rams two vehicles in Sukhdev Vihar; 21-year-old held

A 45-year-old autorickshaw driver was killed and another man injured after an allegedly speeding car rammed into two vehicles in south-east Delhi’s Sukhdev Vihar on Saturday morning. Police later arrested the accused driver.

The deceased was identified as Md. Kalam, a resident of New Friends Colony. The injured man, Md. Bablu, lived under the Sukhdev Vihar metro station.

Police said the accident occurred around 7 a.m. when a hatchback, bearing registration number DL 9CBN 7089, being driven rashly rammed into Kalam’s autorickshaw before hitting a cycle rickshaw. Kalam was taken to Escorts Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, while Mr. Bablu sustained injuries.

An eyewitness, Jeet, claimed that two cars had been racing moments before the crash.
