Australian wildcard Dane Sweeny beat world number 14 Lorenzo Musetti 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.
Tristan Schoolkate and Alexei Popyrin both fell to four-set defeats in their second-round clashes against Flavio Cobolli and Alejandro Tabilo respectively.
Sweeny will take on world number 22 Luciano Darderi on Saturday (AEST) in the third round.
