The Transport Workers’ Union has no sympathy for Qantas, after the national carrier reported a near-14 per cent drop in pre-tax profit in the past year.
“It’s hard to know what’s more obscene: the eye-watering scale of a $2 billion underlying profit, or Qantas crying poor about it at the same time it approves a 17 per cent pay increase to the board,” said TWU national secretary Michael Kaine this afternoon.
