Auntie Anne’s and Carvel to expand into New Zealand, flagship stores opening at Westfield Newmarket

American food chains Auntie Anne’s and Carvel are launching their first New Zealand locations at Westfield Newmarket on September 26. The franchise rights were acquired by Kathan Parikh, who also operates the Cinnabon franchise in the country.
Why it matters
The entry of these established American brands into the New Zealand market reflects ongoing retail expansion and the globalization of food franchises.
Popular American food chains Auntie Anne’s and Carvel will open their first New Zealand stores later this month.
The flagship stores will open at Auckland’s Westfield Newmarket on September 26.
Kathan Parikh acquired the franchise rights for New Zealand from global owners GoTo Foods International.
Parikh also owns the New Zealand franchise for Cinnabon, which he launched here in 2024 .
“Westfield Newmarket was the location of our first New Zealand Cinnabon store, so it makes sense for our first Auntie Anne’s and Carvel store to be there too,” Parikh said.
