Opposition lawmakers have called for an audit of the construction works for the International Specialised Hospital of Uganda (ISHU) in Lubowa, citing continuous government financing and delayed completion without accountability.
The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament (LoP), Mr Joel Ssenyonyi, said the Auditor General last audited the project in 2022, yet the government continues to inject lots of money into it.
The LoP added that the government has so far injected about Shs1.5 trillion into the long-delayed 264-bed international specialised hospital, which was initially scheduled for completion in 2021 but has since suffered several delays.
“We want to recommend that project gets to be audited by the Auditor General. We shall be pushing through on the floor of Parliament because that project was last audited in 2022. Yet it's been getting money every year,” Mr Ssenyonyi said.
