Auckland restaurant Mekong Baby closes after more than a decade

A popular Ponsonby Rd eatery has closed its doors after more than a decade in business.

Mekong Baby owners Jackie and Marcin Kulak said in a social media post this evening that operating the restaurant was “no longer viable”.

In a message titled “A very difficult goodbye”, they described the sacrifices they made to keep the restaurant afloat, including selling their family home.

“We have poured our hearts into it. We have worked through long days, late nights, incredibly challenging times and all of the ups and downs that come with running a hospitality business.

“We have always believed that if we worked hard enough, cared enough and kept giving our best, we could keep going. But sometimes, hard work alone isn’t enough.”
