Atiku asks n'assembly to summon CBN governor, accountant-general over conflicting PFIPC accounts

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has asked the national assembly to summon the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the accountant-general of the federation over conflicting narratives on the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) bank accounts.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Phrank Shaibu, his senior special assistant on public communication, Atiku said contradictory positions by the CBN and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) have plunged the Tinubu administration into a credibility crisis.
He said the CBN’s testimony before the house of representatives fundamentally contradicted the earlier position of the OAGF on the opening of the PFIPC accounts.
Atiku said the conflicting narratives suggested an attempt to cover up the controversy.
“This is where the cover-up appears to begin. One institution denied authorising the opening of the PFIPC accounts and alleged forgery,” he said.
