Athish’s manifestation comes true in some style

Cricketer S.R. Athish scored 137 runs in a Tamil Nadu U-23 match, attributing his success to mental conditioning and visualization techniques. He is now aiming for a spot in the Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy team.
Why it matters
The story highlights the growing importance of sports psychology and mental preparation in the development of young athletes.
S.R. Athish is brimming with confidence. He was so optimistic about delivering a top knock in the Tamil Nadu u-23-Rest of India u-23 game that he decided ahead of the fixture how he would “celebrate” the special moment.
The 22-year-old did not disappoint himself, notching up 137 while stitching 250 runs with fellow centurion K.T.A. Madhava Prasad for the first wicket here on Friday.
“A few days ago, my father shared a video of Shubman Gill’s celebration. Mine was a pre-planned celebration. I knew that something big would happen this match,” said Athish, who will fight for an opening slot in the Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy team.
“This innings will definitely give me confidence. It is a good start to the season. We will have to see if I get a chance... it will depend on the combination. If I get a chance, I will use it.”
