Torrential rain wreaked havoc across Kerala’s Idukki district early on Saturday morning (August 1, 2026), causing large-scale damage in various areas.
A major landslip at Adoormala in Kudayathoor panchayat, Thodupuzha, left one woman dead and two others injured. According to the police, the landslip struck the home of Mashikkalel Ravi Narayanan around 2:00 a.m.
Ravi, his wife Sumathi, and their son Ratheesh were inside the house when the disaster struck, and Sumathi went missing immediately after. Local residents managed to rescue Ravi and Ratheesh, who sustained injuries. NDRF members and Fire and Rescue Force personnel recovered the body of the woman on Saturday (August 1) morning.
