At just a gram and eight millimetres, Srikakulam researcher’s wind turbine enters International Book of Records

A researcher from Srikakulam, India, has earned a spot in the International Book of Records for creating a functional wind turbine measuring only eight millimetres. The tiny device, built from copper and a DC motor, is intended for future applications in robotics and space technology.

A wind turbine that stands eight millimetres tall and weighs one gram has earned Maheswaram Bhanu Chandhar, a young researcher from Narasannapeta in Srikakulam district, a place in the International Book of Records.
Mr. Bhanu Chandhar built the turbine from copper sheets, a small DC motor and a dab of enamel paint. It spins without a sound. The International Book of Records recognised it as an innovative project and presented him a certificate recently for a world record.
He teaches in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department at Sri Sivani College of Engineering in Chilakapalem, Srikakulam district, where the management and his colleagues congratulated him on the recognition.
