Asset management giant Invesco files for tokenized fund targeting stablecoin reserve market

Asset management firm Invesco has filed with the SEC to launch a tokenized fund that invests in U.S. Treasury securities to support stablecoin reserves. This move reflects a growing trend among major financial institutions to integrate blockchain technology into traditional asset management.
Why it matters
The entry of major asset managers into the stablecoin reserve market signals the increasing institutionalization and mainstream adoption of blockchain-based financial products.
The firm — which has more than $2.5 trillion in AUM — filed Wednesday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to register the Invesco Stablecoin Reserves Onchain Fund, which will invest in cash and short-term U.S. Treasury securities. The proposed portfolio aligns with the reserve requirements outlined in the GENIUS Act, the U.S. law governing payment stablecoins.
