Troops of the 21 Sector Assam Rifles captured two youths from Bihar from a sensitive location in Agartala on Monday morning (September 7, 2026). The detainees, identified as Suraj Kumar (30) and Srikant Kumar (36), were later handed over to the police as per procedure.

The arrests occurred in the Shalbagan area, where the Military Station, BSF’s frontier headquarters and the offices of the CRPF are located. Two pistols, three magazines and eight rounds of ammunition were seized from the Bihar youths.

Assam Rifles said the youths were captured and arms were recovered from them by troops of the 35 Bn in front of the BSF headquarters entrance gate. Initial investigation revealed that Suraj Kumar and Srikant Kumar arrived in Agartala from Khowai in west Tripura to hand over firearms to someone yet to be identified.
