Pranati Nayak finished at the sixth spot in eight-women vault final in Artistic gymnastics event.

The 31-year-old, the lone gymnast from India at the quadrennial event, scored identical 12.900 on her first and second vault to aggregate 13.100 with a 0.20 bonus added to her total.

Indian boxer Parveen progressed to the quarterfinals of women’s 65kg after getting a walkover from Tajikistan’s Malika Nozimova but it was curtains for compatriots Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg) and Sumit (70kg).

Sakshi bowed out following a 2-3 pre-quarterfinal loss to Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkibekova in the women’s 51kg category.

Sumit also suffered a heartbreak as he was forced to concede his men’s 70kg pre-quarterfinal bout against Iraq’s Al Sarray Ali Qasim Hamdan following an injury.

In-form striker Dilpreet Singh fired a hat-trick to hand the Indian men’s hockey team a comfortable 8-2 win over Korea and all but assure its place in the semifinal.
