India’s athletes made their mark at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, winning 85 medals across a range of disciplines, with standout performances in athletics, shooting and the newly introduced mixed martial arts events. While India fell short of its record-breaking 106-medal tally at the 2023 Asian Games, its contingent of 503 athletes, including 269 men and 234 women, put up a strong show across 36 sporting disciplines during the September 19–October 4 Games.
