MANILA, Philippines - The two-day 2026 Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Ministerial Conference on Disaster Resilience ended Wednesday with the adoption of the Manila Declaration, underscoring the region's commitment to advancing global disaster resilience efforts.Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., who also chairs the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, announced the adoption of the Manila Declaration during the conference's closing ceremonies.Teodoro said the document affirmed Asean's 'collective commitment to three lines of effort.'First was accelerating the implementation of the AADMER (Asean Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response) Work Program 2026 to 2030, he said.'Second, strengthening Asean accountability, monitoring, and learning for disaster resilience.
