Arteta 'didn't learn' from Brighton's fast start

Image source, Getty Images Published 23 September 2026 Arsenal podcaster Alan Alger says Mikel Arteta "didn't learn" from Brighton 's fine start in their 3-0 win over the Gunners on Saturday.

The Seagulls' high press smothered Arteta's side, who struggled to match the intensity of their opponents, before Pascal Gross opened the scoring after half an hour.

"It's not even one of those defeats where you can come up with lots of excuses and say 'maybe this would have been different if this had fallen our way'," said Alger.

"I've never seen Arsenal beaten so fairly and squarely in Arteta's reign and that includes some quite heavy defeats where he had a bit of bad luck.
