Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has addressed speculation regarding a potential transfer for Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. While Arteta remained coy on the specific target, he emphasized the club's ambition to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes.
Why it matters
Arsenal's transfer activity is a key indicator of their competitive strategy as they look to defend their Premier League title.
Mikel Arteta refused to be drawn on speculation linking Arsenal with Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior but insisted the Premier League champions remain ambitious as they continue to strengthen their squad.
The Arsenal manager was asked about the club's transfer plans after Saturday's 4-1 pre-season victory over Girona , where he made it clear that more business is expected before the window closes.
"Well, we are really active, trying to improve and evolve the team. That's clear," Arteta said."We expect to have movements in the next few weeks, obviously, because we want to get better like anybody else. And you can just see the transfer market and our opponents.
"What we are doing, we won't sit still, and we are very ambitious in what we want to do."Arteta's comments come amid continued speculation over Vinicius' future at Real Madrid.
