Arrangements made for Vinayaka Chaturthi in Coimbatore district with 2,230 idols in public places
Coimbatore district police have finalized security arrangements for Vinayaka Chaturthi, with over 2,200 idols permitted for installation. Security personnel have been deployed across urban and rural areas to manage the festival and subsequent immersion processions.

The police have made arrangements and stepped up security across Coimbatore district in view of Vinayaka Chaturthi on Monday (September 14, 2026).
According to the police, Hindu organisations, political parties, and various other groups have been permitted to install a total of 2,230 large size Vinayaka idols across the district- 730 in the city and 1,500 idols in the rural areas. They started installation of the idols at the permitted locations from Sunday evening (September 13, 2026). The installations will be completed by Monday morning, on the day of Vinayaka Chaturthi.
The Coimbatore City Police have deployed 1,500 personnel for security and smooth conduct of the celebrations. Around 1,000 personnel will take care of the security within the jurisdictions of the Coimbatore District Police.
