Arrangements in place for free power supply to Ganesh pandals in Telangana

Telangana's power distribution companies are providing free electricity to Ganesh pandals across the state under government directives. Officials are monitoring safety measures and have established emergency helplines to prevent illegal and dangerous power connections during the festival.
Why it matters
The initiative balances public celebration needs with critical infrastructure safety and grid management during a major cultural event.
The two distribution utilities in Telangana -- Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) and Northern Discom (TGNPDCL) -- have made all arrangements to provide free electricity supply to Ganesh pandals in the State, following the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Chairman and Managing Director of the TGSPDCL, Jitesh V. Patil, on Sunday visited the Khairatabad and Balapur pandals and reviewed the arrangements for uninterrupted power supply with all safety measures throughout the festival. He interacted with the Ganesh Utsav Committee and enquired about the power supply arrangements, back-up systems and emergency response mechanism. He stated that the entire infrastructure would be monitored round-the-clock from the time of installation of the idol till the final immersion procession.
