Arrangements complete for September 28 local body ward bypolls in Keralam: SEC

Byelections to 38 local body wards, including two Corporation wards and three municipality wards, will be held on Monday in Keralam. All arrangements have been completed for the smooth conduct of the elections, State Election Commissioner N. Seshadrinathan said here on Saturday.

The poll results will be keenly watched as these are the first bypolls to local body wards after the Congress-led UDF government came to power in Keralam in May.

Polling will be held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. In all, 126 candidates are in the fray including 62 women and 64 men. The Commission has arranged 385 polling stations.

The counting of the polled votes will start at 10 p.m. on September 29.
