Armenian Doctor Enters Race to Lead World Health Organization

Armenian pediatric oncologist Gevorg Tamamyan has been named one of six candidates for the position of Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Tamamyan was nominated by Botswana, rather than Armenia, according to Sputnik Armenia .
The election for the WHO 's next Director-General is scheduled for May 2027. Alongside Tamamyan, candidates from Qatar, Spain and Indonesia are seeking the position, while two additional candidates have been nominated from within the WHO.
