The Madurai District Police have arrested two men, Mahalingam, 21, and Muthu Ilagovan, 22, in connection with an armed robbery at a petrol bunk at Nagamalai Pudukottai, on Monday.
The police said that three persons had come to the fuel station at Tharapatti around 10.45 p.m. in the guise of refuelling the two-wheeler. Two of them brandished a sword and a machete and threatened to attack one of the employees. Then they took ₹34,800 in cash from the fuel station and fled the spot. Based on a complaint by petrol bunk manager Santhanakaruppu, 32, Nagamalai Pudukottai police registered a case of robbery.
