An armed man allegedly attacked Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton on Sept. 6, injuring multiple people at the Canfield Fair near Youngstown, according to a statement from Acton's campaign.
Patrick Havas, 38, was arrested and is in the Mahoning County Jail facing charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
The alleged attacker was carrying a gun, according to former U.S. Rep. John Boccieri, a Democratic candidate for the Ohio House who witnessed the incident.
“Today at the Canfield Fair, I witnessed an armed individual attempt to attack a candidate for governor. Hersecurity detail intercepted and restrained the man before he could reach her," Boccieri said in a statement.
“The man was found carrying a handgun. Thanks to the immediate response of the candidate’s security detail,no one was seriously injured," Boccieri said.
