Arasavalli Sun temple will be among India’s major spiritual destinations, says Rammohan Naidu

Union Minister Rammohan Naidu announced that the Arasavalli Sun temple in Srikakulam will be developed into a major spiritual destination under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme. The project includes infrastructure upgrades like a Sun Experience Centre and improved facilities to boost tourism in the region.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu on Monday (October 5, 2026) visited the Arasavalli Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple and said it would become one of the country’s major spiritual destinations once it was developed with ₹55.74 crore under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme . Along with Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar and other senior officials, he interacted with officials, priests, public representatives and locals at the temple, 2 km from Srikakulam, over its development.
He said the Ministry of Tourism would take up works such as a Sun Experience Centre, a dome structure on the sun deck area, a restaurant, a shopping area and additional facilities under the scheme. He praised the Collector for preparing the detailed project report that led the Ministry to sanction the funds. The Centre has selected 57 destinations across the country under the scheme and sanctioned funds for 17 of them.
