Police have confirmed that no criminal charges will be laid following the death of a one-year-old boy in a dog attack in Aranui, Christchurch. The dog involved in the incident is scheduled to be euthanized this week.

And police have confirmed no criminal charges will be laid in relation to the little boy’ death.
Sonny-Charles, 1, died on August 14 at his family home in Aranui after being bitten by a dog.
“Despite the immediate efforts of first responders, and a member of the household, the child sadly died at the scene,” Detective Senior Sergeant Dan Overend said.
“The dog involved was known to the occupants of the address and lived at the property.”
Police today confirmed no one would face charges.
“Sonny’s death has now been referred to the coroner.”
A Christchurch City Council spoke to person confirmed the dog behind the attack remained in its animal shelter.
“It is scheduled to be euthanised this week.”
Sonny-Charles’ parents, Greg Watson and Jordan Doherty, earlier paid tribute to their little boy.
