APSRTC outsourced workers allege salary delays, seek PF-ESI transparency

Nearly 8,600 outsourced employees of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) are facing financial difficulties due to delays in the payment of their salaries, the APSRTC Outsourced Employees Union alleged on Wednesday.

In a statement, union State president D. Kiran Kumar and State general secretary T. Ganganjaneyulu said the workers had been serving the corporation for years on low wages and were often forced to wait for their monthly salaries despite regularly attending to their duties.

The delays were affecting their ability to meet essential expenses, including family maintenance, children’s education, house rent, medical bills, transportation costs and loan repayments, they said.

The union also raised concerns over the handling of Provident Fund (PF) and Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) contributions. The leaders alleged that there was no transparency on whether the amounts deducted from workers’ salaries were being deposited into their PF and ESI accounts on time.
