‘Appoint doctor in Oorudaiyarpuram Urban Primary Health Centre’
Residents of Oorudaiyarpuram have petitioned local authorities to appoint a doctor to their Urban Primary Health Centre, which has been without one for months. The petition also highlights broader infrastructure issues, including unaddressed garbage accumulation and incomplete road repairs following drainage work.

Seeking the early appointment of a doctor in the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in their area, a group of residents from Oorudaiyarpuram here submitted a petition to Deputy Mayor K.R. Raju during the weekly grievances redress meeting held at the Corporation on Tuesday.
In a petition, the residents of Oorudaiyarpuram said the doctor serving in the UPHC in their area was transferred to some other UPHC a couple of months ago. However, no doctor was appointed to the Oorudaiyarpuram UPHC as the replacement of the transferred doctor.
Consequently, the patients of Oorudaiyarpuram, particularly the senior citizens, pregnant women and children, have to go all the way to the UPHC at Thatchanallur after taking the bus or autorickshaw.
Hence, the Corporation should appoint a doctor at the earliest in the Oorudaiyarpuram UPHC, the petitioners appealed.
