Health Canada has updated its approval for Apple’s hypertension notification feature, adding new identifiers for the iPhone and Apple Watch apps under an existing medical device licence.
The feature is listed under Health Canada licence No. 114026 as a Class II medical device. The original licence was first issued on September 25, 2025. Health Canada’s database now shows additional device identifiers dated September 28, 2026, for both the Hypertension Notification Feature iOS app and Apple Watch app, according to checks by iPhone in Canada.
That means this is not the first Canadian approval for Apple’s hypertension notifications . Instead, the September 28 entries appear to update the existing licence with newer versions or identifiers for the software.
Apple’s hypertension notification feature runs in the background on supported Apple Watch models and looks for patterns that may suggest chronic high blood pressure.
