However, the 56-year old has issued an apology to FIFA Council members over the ill-fated plan to sell a stake in a new commercial venture that would have taken control of the World Cup and other major tournaments.
The proposal, named the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), was mooted to raise up to $4.2 billion, provide $20 million for all 211 FIFA Member Nations – and net Infantino a $30 million salary.
The fallout has seen pressure continue to mount on the Swiss administrator, as world football turns its back on its most powerful figure.
